Covenant House is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping youth facing or at risk of homelessness, offering safe shelter and essential programs. I’ve been photographing events for Covenant House Toronto since 2019, primarily their annual Sleep Out fundraisers, where participants spend a night outside in solidarity with homeless youth, hear directly from the young people, and tour the facilities.
These events involve long hours, challenging weather and lighting conditions, and quick turnarounds, but offer powerful moments of empathy, reflection, and community. My photography captures the atmosphere of the evening, participants’ genuine reactions to the youth stories, and the shared commitment of staff and attendees to supporting this vital organization.
